We discussed options for improving the pedestrian safety at the intersection of Myrtle and West. 2. Possible solutions such as Blind Signs will be researched. New Business 1. We discussed fundraising projects such as the performances at the North Coast theatre. Our monthly fund raiser brought in $5.50. The Washington Mutual account balance is $400.35. Norman suggested that the option of paying the council phone bill automatically be investigated. Doug will inquire about this kind of arrangement. The minutes from January's meeting were not read. They were sent out through e-mail. Old Business 1. There was a follow-up discussion concerning the Blind Signs presentation. There was a general consensus that this product would be of some benefit for the Myrtle and West intersection. New Business 1. Norman reviewed a large print bus schedule. He finds the contrast of the regular schedule to be easier to use. 2. The council voted to donate $25 as sponsorship for the Val and Joan Dance-a-thon team. This donation will assist the Reading Service of the Redwoods. We did not hold our monthly fund raiser. The Washington Mutual account (accessible signal fund)balance is $400.35. Old Business 1. The accessible pedestrian signals are now installed at the intersections of 4th and V and 5th and V in Eureka. New Business 1. Al proposed a resolution be presented to the CCB. The resolution would ask for a database of laws pertaining to blind people be created. Peggy will present the resolution. 2. A motion passed to grant $225 to offset our president's convention costs. 3. A request from RSR for a donation was reviewed. At this time the request was tabled. The treasury needs to be replenished. James Forbes volunteered to help with a musical fundraiser. Treasurer's Report: the Wells Fargo account balance is $365.79. An invoice for several months of phone service has been submitted in the amount of $155. The Washington Mutual account (accessible signal fund) balance is $400.35. September's minutes were read. Old Business More discussion was held concerning a database of laws. All agreed to send the letter Don created to Wes Chesbro. First Doug will ask Dan Kysor and Jeff Thom for their input before the letter is sent. Since this is a vast ranging topic, it was suggested we start small and build a database as we go. Doug will post the links he found on his web site. New Business Doug read a convention report from our delegate Jill O?Connell. Jill would like the members to know that she will attend future conventions when possible but she is not able to attend conventions on a regular basis has she has done in the past. Doug gave a legislative update. It was suggested we meet next time at a coffee house or restaurant. The monthly fundraiser brought in $6. The meeting was adjourned by 4:00. We had an informal business meeting at the Tea Garden restaurant. The council decided to send our letter about laws to Senator Chesbro. Al suggested we make phone calls to past members in order to survey their interests. Doug will send Al a list of members.
