Reviews for Abruzzi

"Waited way too long for the food. That was not even that good. They call themselves kid friendly HA HA! Don't waste your time at this place. 5/20/2003 Signed a real Italian."

"Great food even better bar. Avoid the annoying host/owner (bearded). Very pretentious and seems corporately evil."

"I wasn't very happy with my experience,I think my wife and I wated 50 min before the apps were served. Too long for me. Drew"

"While waiting in line to be seated I noticed the cooks repeatedly putting their fingers in the food and then into their mouths. They did this with multiple dinners. As I pulled my chair closer to the table, the multiple layers of dried gum on the seat\'s underside pronounced the final death knell to my romantic birthday dinner. We went home with empty tummies."

"Too Pretentious & too expensive for mediocre food - go to La Trattoria or Mazotti's instead!!!"

"Well I'll throw down a positive review. My wife and I liked the atmosphere a lot, pretty romantic, dimly lit. The wait staff was very cool and there seemed to be plenty of them buzzing around. We were both very pleased with the food. The waiter told us that the menus were brand new. I had a Chicken Fettucini with Creamy Pesto dish which was excellent. We spent spent about $65 on our meals which included two appetizers and a two glasses of house wine. I would go back!"

"The owner seems corporately evil? Please. The owner/manager is GREAT - very invested in the community and very invested in the restaurant. Abruzzi is a lovely environment and a delicious meal."

"Went to Abruzzi's for a B-Day party. There were 10 of us total and everyone was very pleased with their meals. I'd have to say that Abruzzi's is winning my heart for Italian food in Humboldt. While it's a little pricey the meals are very good, and your options include dishes outside of the standard marinara noodle plates which are what most Italian places stick with."

"I dine in and order out from Abruzzi and have tasted its ups and downs. The ambiance is nice, especially for Arcata. Abruzzi is on an upswing right now and the food is good again."

"I started going to Abruzzi shortly after they opened. They used to be open for lunch, and you could get out of there for under $10 for a really nice lunch. Now, I can't get out of there for dinner for under $30--and that doesn't include alcohol. However . . . the food is great! I love the Pollo Frescatta--I have dreams about it down here in LA. I have to stop in every time I'm in the area to sample it's delights. The wait staff and host have always been wonderful. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my first course to come out--and that includes my graduation dinner with over 20 people. I have tried Mazotti's recently, but they don't have the delicate flavors that Abruzzi has. Abruzzi's is number one in my book for Arcata dining."

"Abruzzi has a fantastic new menu thanks to their new chef. I just had the sweet potato gnocchi with chanterelles -- it was exquisite. My sister had an appetizer featuring small raviolis filled with sweet peas and mascarpone. It was delicious and made for a great dinner with the addition of a salad. We finished the meal with a 1/2 bottle of Italian sparkling desert wine along with house-made cannoli. I've been dining at Abruzzi for the past 20 years, and this is the best meal yet. In addition, our server took excellent care of us and the italian music was enjoyable. I am eager to return and try the other new menu items that tempted me tonight."
