New city council service begins
by Rachel Windsong

Beginning in January Dial-A-Ride is starting a trial program for those interested in attending city council meetings, thanks to the Eureka City Council and City Manager Dave Tyson.

Until now it has been possible to get to the meetings on Dial-A-Ride-but unless you met a friendly neighbor, there was no affordable way to get home. Now for $2 City Cab will take Dial-A-Ride users home anywhere in Eureka after the City Council meetings. The meetings are held the first and third Mondays at 6:30 p.m.

It's a wonderful opportunity to come and take part in the government of our city. The program will run through March to see if there is an interest in it. Don't miss this chance to come and speak up about things that concern you.
Scheduling Dial-A-Ride

Management would like you to know other facts that may make your riding more satisfactory. Twice as many cabs are on duty from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you can schedule your trips during these hours, waits will be shorter. The last hour of the day, from 6 to 7 p.m., is hectic. Try not to wait that late. No calls are taken after 6:45 p.m. If you've waited 40 minutes, call again. Sometimes a mistake is made in dispatch.

They are aiming at no more than a 30-minute wait. In a crunch, people who are out will be picked up before those waiting at home. Doctor appointments are noted, and every effort will be made to get you there on time.

Cabs are being sent out on three calls at a time. That means you need to be ready 45 minutes before the time you need to be somewhere, in case you are the first picked up.
If you have any problems, Jason wants to hear from you at 445-4907. Give him a call, or let him know if you're really pleased about something. They're trying hard to meet our needs, let's help by staying in touch and talking to them, as well as to each other.
Have a good New Year. See you on Winco's bench.
