Support the Senior Legislature
Remember Line 53 on your tax form
by Mary Dennison
The California State Legislature passed a law recognizing the fact that
taxpayers are not familiar with the opportunity to donate to various causes
on their California individual tax returns. Included in the law was a
strong recommendation that tax preparers inform their clients of this
opportunity when completing the tax return.
Line 53, The CA Fund for Senior Citizens, is of particular interest to
all individuals regardless of age. We all have family, friends and loved
ones who are concerned with health insurance, prescription coverage, nursing
home care, Alzheimer facilities, transportation, in-home care and other
senior issues.
Contributions to the CA Fund for Senior Citizens, Line 53, will support
the activities of the non-partisan California Senior Legislature, a group
of volunteer California seniors who really care about senior issues.
We have asked the local tax preparers to inform their clients and also
to refer to it in discussions as they prepare their returns.
Mary Dennison is the Senior Senator representing Humboldt and Del Norte
counties on the California Senior Legislature.
