Peace workshops
planned
by Bud Tillinghast
The ad-hoc group that organized the Eureka Peace March has set its next
big event at the Adorni Center in Eureka Saturday, June 14 from 1-11 p.m.
We're calling it "Taking the Next Step." It will be a day of
discussion and sharing skills to move our communities toward a world beyond
war.
* 1-6:30 p.m. attend workshops, forums and a community meeting.
* 6:30-7:30 p.m. dinner, and meeting other people who share your concerns.
* 7:30-11 p.m. diverse musical offerings and dancing.
Age appropriate programs will be offered for children and youth from 1-6:30
p.m.
June 14 is Flag Day so please bring your flags with you to hang on the
wall-peace flags, earth flags, US flags, state flags.
The event is free, but we're counting on generous donations to keep
it all going, just like we did at the Eureka Peace March where we collected
more than $2,000 on that one day.
For more information, or to join one of our many committees, call Linda
at 707-442-1068.
Workshops include
* Having conversations with people who think differently about war and
peace
* Unlearning racism
* Depleted uranium and its use by our government in both the Gulf and
Iraq wars
* Multicultural forum on local impacts of US foreign policy
* Taking the public media back from giant corporations
* Working with our local government
* Preparing for the 2004 presidential elections by building a pro-peace
and pro-civil liberties coalition locally
* The Patriot Act and other threats to the Bill of Rights
* Introduction to nonviolent civil disobedience
* Promoting sustainable economies free of corporate control
Retired Methodist minister Bud Tillinghast is a member of this ad-hoc
committee.
