New nonprofit
forming to focus on Fortuna senior needs
by Jack R. East Jr.
As a result of two community meetings held on
unmet senior needs in Fortuna which were sponsored by the Presbyterian
Church of the Redeemer, many seniors expressed a need to form a nonprofit
corporation to serve and coordinate the needs of Fortuna seniors.
The church leadership that sponsored the meetings
heard this message expressed by Fortuna seniors, and has started the process
of forming and organizing a nonprofit corporation to serve and coordinate
the needs of seniors in Fortuna. The new corporation will be called Fortuna
Senior Services, Inc.
We hope to complete this process by October, and
as soon as possible call the first meeting of the newly formed organization.
We are excited about the potential benefits that the new organization
will provide for senior services and activities in Fortuna.
As soon as the necessary corporate forms and paperwork
are completed, the church will notify Fortuna seniors of the time and
location of the initial meeting. It has been rewarding to be a part of
this process and see Fortuna seniors have their own organization that
will address and serve their specific needs.
Jack R. East Jr. chairs the organizing committee
of the recent Fortuna community meetings held at the Presbyterian Church
of the Redeemer. Information: 707-725-5006 or e-mail presfortuna@att.net.
