Great news for Fortuna seniors
by Jack East Jr.

Fortuna area seniors now have a nonprofit organiziation specifically to address their needs. Fortuna Senior Services, Inc. has been established to communicate, coordinate, advocate and serve Fortuna seniors.

The board of directors is getting organized and planning programs and activities . In March we will present a workshop and discuss the various problems and concerns seniors face as they go through the aging process.

Fortuna Senior Services, Inc. is a membership organization. At this time, we have approximately 55 Fortuna seniors signed up as members. In January we had a membership meeting, and the members completed a senior needs survey. The survey will assist us in developing programs and activities that will help to meet the needs of seniors in our community. We also plan to do do the necessary studies to determine if there is a need for a Senior Community Center in Fortuna.

The board members of Fortuna Senior Services invite you to join with us in the journey to serve the needs of the Fortuna senior community. Your membership and input into our organization is critical to the success of this newly formed organization.

It has been exciting for me to participate in the process of identifying the need for the organization, setting it up, sharing in the leadership process, and seeing the needs of Fortuna area seniors being addressed.

Jack R. East Jr. is president and organizing officer of Fortuna Senior Services, Inc. Call the new organization at 707-726-9203.
