Review: What if I told you that you could turn your entire life around - aches and pains gone, many illnesses gone or lessened, better sleep at night, more energy? I'm not kidding. A new book released this year tells you this and a lot more. The name of the book is You're not Sick, You're Thirsty by F. Batmanghelidj, MD (Dr. Batman), and it is turning my life around. From the book: "Let me give you the single most effective prescription for well-being, improved health, disease prevention, potentially reversible stages of degenerative diseases - and finally the best pain medicine in the world. It needs no doctor's prescription. It is freely available. It costs nothing. It has no dangerous side effects. It is the medication your body cries for when it is stressed. It is good old plain, natural water - ready cash for the industrial systems of the body. "Every 24 hours the body recycles the equivalent of 40,000 glasses of water to maintain its life. Within this pattern of water metabolism and its recycling process, and depending on environmental conditions, the body becomes short of about six to ten glasses of water each day. This deficit has to be supplied to the body every day." Before reading this book, I was under the impression I was drinking adequate water every day. So I started to measure 64 ounces, or eight 8-ounce glasses to drink every day - and I suddenly realized I was woefully short! I have been diligent with my water intake during the past weeks and have experienced much improvement in my energy, elimination and general feeling of well-being. Needless to say, I am sold. Some of the benefits of drinking adequate water every 24 hours are listed in the front page of the book. Dr. Batman says: "Learn the crucial role water plays in these and many other conditions and ailments: heart disease, stroke, infection, depression, sleep disorders, lack of energy, addiction, osteoporosis, leukemia and lymphoma, attention deficit." Coffee, tea, soda, wine, beer and hard liquor do not count in the total water intake. As a matter of fact, Dr. Batman says all of these drinks work in the opposite manner as diuretics. I urge you to get the book and read this for yourself. Again the name of the book is You're not Sick, You're Thirsty by F. Batmanghelidj, MD. Betty Worley of Eureka, also known as Aksara, works for the New World Youth Ballet of Arcata. You can order the book through your favorite local bookstore. |
