Redway: New executive director comes to lead Healy Senior Center
by Evelyn King

De-Anne Hooper comes to the Healy Senior Center May 8 with many years of management experience. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from U.C. Davis. While attending Davis, she was a kitchen manager, caterer and cook.

As a fifth generation California farmer, De-Anne understands the value of hard work and determination. She acted as comptroller and manager for many facets of her parents' agribusinesses. She served in the Peace Corps and also owned a small grocery store catering to a vacation community. With a long career in social services, she administered various programs in public health, also working with individual clients as a health advocate and a job developer.

During the past five years, De-Anne was the executive director for the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe. She loves the Humboldt area and is excited about making a difference for her new community.

Evelyn King is the Healy Senior Center's outgoing executive director.
