Hot August Nights

Our line dance group will host a Friday night dance Aug. 4 from 6-9 p.m. Come kick up your heels or sit and tap your toes. Refreshments provided, donations accepted.

Long-Term Care Seminar

Learn about insurance options and how to prepare for changes in your life with special guest speaker Arthur Neibrief of Genworth Financial. Monday, Aug. 7, at 12:30 p.m. in the Computer Lab.

Culture Change

What is it and how does it affect our community? A Long-Term Care Ombudsman presentation. Monday, Aug. 7, 1 p.m.

Virtual Vacation: Hawaii

On Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. we will provide a virtual vacation to Hawaii. Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959 and celebrates its admission the third Friday in August. If you have traveled to Hawaii and would like to share your experience or be part of this or a future presentation please contact Kim in the Activities office.

Heart-to-Heart

Join this social discussion group for singles now meeting on the fourth Monday of each month, Aug. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at HSRC. We begin our meeting with dinner and continue with discussions about relationships. For reservations please call Nancy at 825-8958.

Cultural Diversity

Learn about the values and customs of different ethnic groups at a special presentation by San Mateo County Long-Term Care Ombudsman Tippy Irwin. Friday, Aug. 25, 10:30 a.m.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES

Are you ready for a change? Try Nutrition and Weight Loss with Linda Patterson. Discuss options for improving your lifestyle habits, set reasonable goals and be successful in maintaining a more desired weight. This popular class meets Mondays, Aug. 7 and 21, at 10:45 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

Sign 'n' Dine this month will be on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 5 p.m. at Gallagher's in Old Town Eureka. Enjoy a stroll around town with your friends before or after dinner. Meet at the restaurant.

Coffee Club meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30-10 a.m. Early birds meet for coffee, tea, refreshments and social hour in the Activity Room.

Nancye Doggett is our new ballroom dancing teacher. Her enthusiasm and love of dance makes this a great class for singles and couples. Mondays in the Dining Room at 1 p.m.

Stay strong with exercise. Studies indicate a regular exercise routine will improve your strength, balance, and overall good health. Exercise classes are offered daily.

Check your blood pressure with Audrey every Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the lobby.

Line dancers enjoy this lively class with teacher Al Weber on Wednesdays at 1:15 p.m. in our Dining Room. August dancers are invited to a "Hot August" dance Aug. 4 at 6 p.m.

Low Vision group meets every Tuesday in the computer Lab at 10:45 a.m.

Rubber stamp instructor Sheri Pettit shares her ideas and creative techniques to inspire beautiful rubber stamped projects. Condensed milk and household bleach were used in recent stamping classes - be amazed at what you can create. Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.

Artists enjoy our variety of opportunities to be creative. Mariana Krattiger continues her watercolor class every Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Dining Room. See her artwork in the lobby. Multi-media art class meets every Friday at 9:30 a.m. Class leader Lorena Boswell works with a variety of art media including drawing, clay, wire and more.

Book Group meets Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. to discuss books and pick reading selections for next month. "Bookworms" are currently reading Love Smart: Find the One You Want, Fix the One You Got by Dr. Phil McGraw.

One-on-one computer support and tutoring. Learn about computer fundamentals, files and folders or how to send an e-mail. Tuesdays 8:45-10:45 a.m. and Thursdays 8:45-noon. Wednesday afternoon support is back from 1-3 p.m.

Commodities distribution (food for seniors) third Thursday, Aug. 24, 8:30-10 a.m. (earlier, if the bags of food are gone) in the Activity Room. The Food Bank also sponsors other senior food programs, 445-3166.

Movies every Monday in the Multipurpose Room, 12:30 p.m.
