What are your skills? Knitting, cooking, gardening, home repair - come share with others
by Sam Roberts

Save the date - Democracy Unlimited's second annual skill share is slated for the weekend of Sept. 23 and 24. It will be two full days of sharing ideas, trades and talents with community members and friends alike.

"Our community holds a wealth of knowledge and talents, ranging from gardening to car maintenance to knowing your rights as a citizen. The skill share is a chance to give and receive useful skills for free," said Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap of Democracy Unlimited of Humboldt County.

The skill sharing will take the shape of up to 60 diverse hour-long workshops scheduled during the weekend.

We want to get the whole community involved with this information exchange. Anyone who wants to is welcome to teach a workshop - just give us a call and we'll sign you up. There is no need to be an expert at what you want to teach. All that is required is the drive to share knowledge with your community.

This educational, community-building bonanza is free to all, open to the public and offers on-site child care at no charge to the parent (please call ahead to let us know how many kids to plan for).

The festivities will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday Sept. 23 on the corner of 14th and M streets in Eureka (1402 M St., the big yellow house), and will go on until 5 p.m. and continue the next day. A free carpool will leave from the Arcata Co-op parking lot at 8:30 a.m. each morning and return by 5:30 p.m.

If you are interested in teaching, there is still room for more presenters, or if you want more information call 269-0984 or visit www.DUHC.org.
