Medicare Rx October dates can affect prescription plans
by Anne Conrad-Antoville

If you have Medicare, pay attention to information you may receive in the mail regarding Medicare drug plans in October.

On Oct. 1, companies that sell Medicare drug plans will begin sending you 2007 marketing materials by mail.

If your plan is terminating in 2007, you will receive written notice by Oct. 2.

By Oct. 12 all 2007 drug plan information will be available on the web site, www.medicare.gov.

If you have a Medicare drug plan, you will receive notice from your current plan by Oct. 31 regarding changes for 2007 - including premium and co-pay costs, provider pharmacies and formulary changes.

The Annual Enrollment Period for Medicare drug plans is Nov. 15 through Dec. 31. During this period you can either change your Medicare drug coverage or get Medicare drug coverage for the first time. The drug coverage will be effective Jan. 1.

During the Annual Enrollment Period you can also change your Medicare coverage either from or to a Medicare Advantage plan.
