At the Senior Resource Center
A great meal for a great cause - delivered right to your doorstep

by Tara Sanders

Beginning Jan. 2, the Humboldt Senior Resource Center's Senior Nutrition Program is introducing three new boxed lunches on the Doorstep Lunch menu. The boxed lunches are a perfect choice for business meetings.

These mouthwatering morsels have an additional benefit - proceeds from the sales of Doorstep Lunches help to fuel the Home Delivered Meal and Congregate Programs, important services that offer nutritious meals to seniors within the community.

Have any or all of these delicious selections delivered right to your doorstep or office. The Boxed Lunch Menu comes with a choice of a sandwich (below), salad of the day, dill pickle spear and a cookie or fresh fruit.

  • Cranberry Gobbler: Roast turkey breast, dried cranberry cream cheese spread, spring greens, tomatoes and onions on nutty whole grain bread.
  • Spicy Roast Beef Melt: Roast beef with chipotle sauce, pepper jack cheese layered on a ciabatta roll and baked until bubbly. Served open-faced with spring greens, tomatoes and onions on the side.
  • Mediterranean Escape: Roasted red pepper pesto sauce, spring greens, marinated mushrooms, provolone cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes and onions with a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette on toasted Italian bread.

These boxed lunches are available to the public for $10 each (includes tax, tip and delivery in Eureka) Monday through Friday. Ordering is simple. Just call 443-9747, ext. 264 by 3 p.m. for next day delivery. Pay with cash or credit card (no checks please). We request two days notice for orders of more than 10. We also offer a Special of the Day for only $8.50. Ask about the special when you place your order.
