Seniors - get help with your energy costs Each year the Redwood Community Action Agency helps seniors apply for the Home Energy Assistance Program. HEAP is the once-per-year program that allows for the purchase of firewood, propane or a PG&E rebate. People age 60 and older can call RCAA at 444-3831, ext. 201 or 202, between Jan. 1 and March 31 to place your name on the 2007 Senior Outreach List. RCAA will begin contacting seniors for the 2007 HEAP program as soon as it begins. The program will continue through December. Each year RCAA assists 700 to 800 seniors through this program, beginning with people who are 80 years old and older, followed by others on the list in order of the date you call. Please do not be concerned if you are not contacted soon after you call. It takes time to call each person, complete the paperwork over the telephone and process the application. RCAA can't give exact dates when you will be called. |
