HumGuide - Web Guide to Humboldt County

Area 1 Agency on Aging
New Information Directory for seniors is here

by Amy Wright

Every two years, the Area 1 Agency on Aging updates and publishes a comprehensive directory of services and programs in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Most programs listed offer low or no-cost services, provided by nonprofit or public service organizations. Focused on the needs of seniors, caregivers and people with disabilities, this publication is an invaluable resource for individuals, family members, service providers and health professionals.

In addition to service listings, the directory also includes helpful tips, checklists and links to web sites on topics such as emergency preparedness, self-advocacy, travel, employment and volunteerism. New to the directory this year, a user-friendly health management section with medical visits and medication management logs, designed to help individuals manage and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Copies of the directory will be available at senior centers, the Humboldt Senior Resource Center, various social service agencies, medical offices, hospitals and nonprofit organizations throughout Humboldt and Del Norte. An electronic version will be available on our web site at www.a1aa.org under “Hot Topics.”

Contact the Area 1 Agency on Aging for more information about the Information Directory or our other programs and services, 442-3763, or send an e-mail to infoserve@a1aa.org.

For individual assistance, call A1AA’s Information and Assistance Program at 442-9591 in Humboldt; 464-7876 in Del Norte or 800-408-4636 toll free.

Amy Wright is special projects coordinator for the Area 1 Agency on Aging.
