Eureka council to explore Dial-A-Ride issues
Eureka city council members Maxine Hunter Meeks and Connie Miller volunteered to work on Dial-A-Ride issues when the topic came under public discussion at the April 21 council meeting. The council wishes to explore coordinating service with Dial-A-Ride, Eureka Transit and Redwood Transit; the possibility of contracting with Yellow Cab to extend Dial-A-Ride hours; clarification of the difference between Eureka Transit and Redwood Transit; a review of ridership volumes, funding issues and the possibility of grant prospects. Hunter Meeks and Miller volunteered to explore methods for increased community involvement and volunteer participation. Staff will investigate funding and service options. Readers with questions or input about Dial-A-Ride are invited to contact Maxine Hunter Meeks at 443-9953 (home) or 441-4169 (voice mail) and Connie Miller at 443-5344 (home) or 441-4167 (voice mail).
