Benefit for Alzheimer's Oct. 2

The 10th annual Soroptimist's Walkathon to benefit the Alzheimer's Resource Center will take place on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 9 a.m. This date coincides with the International Year of the Older Person's "Global Embrace," a 24-hour period during which, all around the world, countries, cities and towns will walk to celebrate active aging.

The local Walkathon is a six-mile walk that starts and ends at the Adult Day Health Services (ADHS) building at California and Del Norte Streets in Eureka. The cost is $10 per person and includes lunch after the walk and a commemorative T-shirt.

Last year, the Soroptimist International of Humboldt Bay and Eureka raised $6,000 through the Walkathon.

You can pick up sign-up sheets and pledge forms at the Humboldt Senior Resource Center Greeter's Desk. For more information, call Roz at 443-9747, ext. 231.
